Central Baptist Church was established on June 2, 1965 as an independent Baptist congregation. The present facility was completed and occupied in 1975. The Bible contains no account of conventions, synods, presbyteries or denominations controlling a local church; so Central Baptist Church is governed by its members who follow Biblical principles.

Our congregation fellowships with other independent, fundamental churches and with ministries such as the Fundamental Baptist Fellowship, Baptist World Missions, and Gospel Fellowship Missions.

Pastor Stephen Russell has led our congregation since February, 1991. He previously pastored for 7 years in Monaca, PA and served as a youth pastor in Rocky Mount, NC. He also currently serves in the Fundamental Baptist Fellowship as the state representative for Alabama. Pastor Russell and his wife, Renee, are both graduates of Bob Jones University in Greenville, SC. Their family includes four daughters - Ashley Joiner & her husband, Ti m -  Erika, Kara & Stephanie.
