RANDY BOARDMAN, SR. PASTOR

Randy Boardman, our Sr. Pastor, and his wife, Amy, moved down from New England to serve here at CBC in June of 2023. They have served in Japan as missionaries, planted a church in Vermont, taught in a Christian school, and raised 6 children along the way. They love the Lord and they love people, a central tenet of ministry to all walks of life. It is their prayer that you would visit Central Baptist to hear God's word preached and mingle with the kind and gracious folks the Lord has placed here. Once here, we believe you'll feel like family in no time!

O U R P E R S O N A L I T Y

Central Baptist Church (CBC) was founded in 1965 as an independent Baptist, pastor-led congregation.  Our present facility was completed and occupied in 1975. We are located on eight beautiful acres on the southwest side of Dothan, Alabama.  The church is governed solely by the congregation following Biblical principles. Central is fundamental in its doctrine with traditional worship services and Sunday school.  We sing from hymnbooks, hold close communion monthly, have Wednesday prayer meeting & Bible study, and enjoy regular fellowships.  CBC supports, through prayers and gifts, 22 missionaries and 9 mission boards and fundamental organizations. Our congregation enjoys fellowships with other fundamental churches and ministries.

O U R P U R P O S E

Our church exists to bring the lost to salvation through Jesus Christ by faith alone.  Second to this is discipleship of new believers, edification of all who attend regularly through the preaching and teaching of the whole counsel of God; aiding in building strong families by promoting godly parenting; and offering benevolent compassion to widows and those in need.

W H A T W E B E L I E V E

  • We believe in the Holy Scriptures, accepting fully the writing of the Old and New Testaments as the very Word of God, verbally inspired in all parts, infallible and authoritative as our rule of faith and practice. (II Timothy 3:16-17; II Peter 1:21)

  • We believe there is one God eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19; II Corinthians 13:14)

  • We believe in the deity of Christ, His Virgin Birth, His shed blood for redemption, His bodily resurrection, His ascension into Heaven, there to be our intercessor. (Matthew 1:23 & 28:6;  Hebrews 9:22; Acts 1:11;  I Timothy 2:5)

  • We believe that the Holy Spirit convicts of sin, makes believers children of God through the New Birth, assuring them of Heaven, and by His indwelling enables Christians to live godly lives. (John  3:5 & 16:7-11; I Corinthians 6:19-20)

  • We believe that all men are by nature and choice sinful and lost, and have within themselves no possible means of salvation. (Romans 3:10-23, 28)

  • We believe in salvation by grace through faith; that salvation is the free gift of God, not by any virtue or works of man, but received only by personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ; that all true believers possess the gift of eternal life, a perfect righteousness, sonship in the family of God, and the divine guarantee that they shall never perish.  (Ephesians 2:8-9; John 10:27-30)

  • We believe in the existence of Satan, the deceiver and prince of this present world; that he was defeated and judged at the Cross, and therefore his final doom is certain.  (Isaiah 14:12-17; Ephesians 6:12; Genesis 3:15; Revelation 20:10)

  • We believe in the second coming of Christ; that His return from Heaven will be personal, visible, and glorious; the time being unrevealed but always imminent; that when He comes He will first, by resurrection of the dead and translation of the living, remove from the earth His waiting Church; then pour out the righteous judgments of God upon the unbelieving world.  Afterwards He will descend with His Church and establish His glorious and literal kingdom over all the nations for one thousand years. (I Thessalonians 4:13-18; Revelation 5; 19:11-19; 20:1-6)

  • We believe that the souls of the saved at death go immediately to be with Christ in Heaven; that at His second coming their works will be judged and rewards determined; that the souls of the unsaved at death descend immediately into Hades until the final day of judgment, at which time their bodies shall be raised from the grave, judged, and cast into the Lake of Fire, the place of everlasting torment and punishment.  (Revelation 10:15; II Corinthians 5:8-10; I Corinthians 3:11; Luke 16:19-31; 12:48)

  • We believe in the everlasting conscious punishment of the wicked in Hell, and the everlasting conscious blessedness of the saved in Heaven.  (Revelation 21:3, 4, 8)

  • We believe in the priesthood of all believers, that Christ is our great High Priest, and through Him every born-again person has direct access into God’s presence without the need of a human priest; that the believer has the right and responsibility to personally study and interpret the Scriptures guided by the Holy Spirit.  (I Peter 2:9; II Peter 1:20; II Timothy 2:15; Hebrews 4:14; Revelation 20:6)

  • We believe that a New Testament Church is an organized body of born-again, baptized believers practicing scriptural ordinances and actively engaged in fulfilling the Great Commission.  (Matthew 28:16-20; Acts 2:41)

  • We believe the two scriptural ordinances given to the local church are baptism by immersion of believers only, and the Lord’s Supper, to be partaken of by obedient Christians.  (Matthew 3:15; Acts 2:41; 8:38)

  • We believe the Biblical account of Creation, specifically that God created the heavens (i.e. the universe), the earth and all living creatures in six literal days and that God rested on the seventh day (Genesis 1:1 – 2:25).  We believe that Adam and Eve were the first humans, that Adam’s disobedience introduced sin and death into this world, and that no living thing died prior to Adam’s fall (Genesis 3:1-24, Romans 5:12).

  • We believe the Biblical account that God ordained the institution of marriage as the union of one man and one woman (Genesis 2:21-25, Matthew 19:4-6). The Bible prohibits (Leviticus 18:22; 20:13) and condemns (Romans 1:26-32) unnatural relationships including (but not limited to) same sex unions or marriages.
